0

Taman Kota Laksamana is filled with so many mouth-watering eateries. From satays, to the classic Peranakan fare, you name it, there’s definitely something for you. On our recent adventure to Melaka, we discovered another side to the Taman Kota Laksamana area. Located just next to Taman Mahajaya, it was opened around Februray 2017, so you can consider this place rather new. This place is filled with quaint cafes and restaurants, serving unique dishes. Here’s what to eat in Melaka: Taman Kota Laksama.

Aunty Fatso

Address:

Situated previously at Taman Melaka Raya, Aunty Fatso moved to Taman Kota Laksamana recently. If you decide to stay in Melaka for a night, then you cannot miss Aunty Fatso. This restaurant is famous for its Prawn Cheese Bee Hoon, Chili Crab, Yam Ring and Salted Egg Yolk squid, just to name a few.

The Prawn Cheese Bee Hoon was something new to us. The sauce is light and creamy, not to the extend where you find the taste overpowering after awhile. The prawn is so so fresh and juicy! A must-try dish when you are here.

As for the Chili Crab, the crab is exceptionally fresh, with the flesh coming right off the crab shell. Aunty Fatso uses locally grown crabs from the farms nearby.

Things to take note: Make a reservation few days in advance. Weekends are fully packed and waiting time to get a table is usually an hour or more. At 7pm, there was a sizable crowd waiting for a table. For reservations, Whatsapp them at: +60 12-611 6996.

Woof Station

Address: 13 Jalan KLJ1-A, Taman Kota Laksamana Jaya, 75200 Melaka, Malaysia

Attention all dog lovers! Check out this cafe which has 3 adorable dogs for company. There’s Chewie, Pepper and Bella. We spent an afternoon with these lovely and well-trained dogs. The moment we entered the main door, they were very excited to greet us and showed us their warm hospitality. The owners of the cafe were very friendly too, and would gladly share tricks you can use to play with the dogs. They were so nice to arrange a mini “photo shoot” for the visitors with the dogs.

One thing I love about this dog cafe is its cleanliness. There is no doggy odour and the floors are very clean. No dog furs flying everywhere or pee stains. This place is spick and span.

If you find heading to the other dog cafe, The Huskitory, too out of the way for you, then Woof Station is a better choice since it’s located near Melaka Sentral. Much more convenient!

Things to note: There is no entrance fee but visitors are expected to buy a drink of at least RM6.90. Treats for the lovely dogs go for RM1 per packet. Weekends can get pretty crowded. So if you want quality time with the dogs, I would suggest heading to Woof Station on a weekday.

Nubacha Charbroil Grill House

Address: No.5 Jalan KLJ-1A Taman Kota Laksamana Jaya, 75200 Melaka

nubacha

Craving for some western food? Then drop by Nubacha Charbroil Grill House. The restaurant has a good selection of western food. Our favourite was the Chargrill Pork Belly with Apple sauce. The tender pork belly melts in your mouth and pairing it with the apple sauce gave it a refreshing after taste.

When you’re here, don’t miss out taking pictures with the 3 cuddly giant teddy bears! Make your visit Instagram worthy too! Haha.

There are so many restaurants and cafe in this area that you’re spoiled for choice. There’s Cheesecake House for the cheesecake lovers, XQ Thai Kitchen serving up cute steamboats made from clay, Bicycle Station Cafe for the riders and the list goes on.

Go ahead and explore this place and let us know what else is good here!
